Hot Air Balloon Festival 2016
It was the day I was like a little child again. I will never forget that day, where huge ballons were blown in the skies. Vibrant, picturesque, colorful hot air ballons covered the horizon plus a glimpse of the sunrise. Just perfect! The event took place February 12-14, 2016. We came on the 12th, saturday weekend, so we expect very astounding crowd in the area. Traffic going to the venue was really heavy. However the Hot Air Ballon area was so wide and spacious and we never had any issues where to stay. All you just need is to look up and say "WOW".
The best time to see the hot air ballons is during early morning
(around 5am-7am) and late afternoon till evening (5pm-7pm). You dont see
the ballons in the middle of the day because they might shrink or melt
by the intense heat by the sun.
And did I say how big there are?
All Major wireless phone carriers and wireless internet (Globe, Smart & Sun) have very good signals around the Clark.
The best place to stay in Clark:
From Dau Bus Terminal take a jeepney bound for SM Clark. Dock at SM Clark and head to Don Juico Street which is just right accross SM and the whole stretch of the street is full of hotels, inns, pension houses in different forms of class. From 5 stars to fan rooms. Name it and they all have it. Since there is a big event, I highly advise to book in advance. I stayed In Hotel Saleh. Contact info is found below.
How to get there:
From Manila
1) Take a bus in Pasay Bus Terminal and look for Dagupan bound. Drop off at Dau Bus terminal in Clark. Fare is P160 for aircon. I wasnt able to ask for the regular bus fare.
2) Going to the Clark Airfield, Go to the Jeepney terminal (fronting Jollibee or near SM Clark) and take the Route 2 bus or simply ask the drivers there that you will go to the "Hot Air Ballon" and they will point you which jeepney to take.
